Why manganese bronze
Manganese bronze has thermal conductivity similar to other bronzes, and the manganese gives a longer wear life. It allows tighter stem-to-guide clearances than phosphor bronze or aluminium silicone bronze.
Oversize guides are offered for some models, and guide blanks are available for one-off repairs. Sizes are listed in the product name, in inches or millimetres, for example 0.340" x 0.502" x 2.250" for the 11/32" universal guide.
